Rolling

The word for this week's Creative Cue is "rolling". My free-motion sketch is of my rolling pin, working on some cookie dough.

My rolling pin was purchased on a trip to Vermont, early in my marriage. It has rolled out many pie crusts, and even more cookies. Cookies are important here.

When First Daughter moved into her college apartment she complained about not liking the rolling pins available to her in the stores. I think she wanted mine, but that wasn't going to happen (mean mom). Eventually, I found Vermont Rolling Pins, and she got her rolling pin for Christmas. Her's is much wider and heavier than mine. Wouldn't want to get hit with it, or drop it on my foot!

I found this piece very hard to photograph. The woven plaid background did strange things to the picture, especially if I got any closer than this. I wonder if any of you have experienced this, and how you have dealt with it.

It's very cold and windy here today, so its a good day to sew. Stay warm, and have a fun weekend.

What an unusual idea! I would never have thought of a rolling pin. Could that be because I seldom use a rolling pin? I like your interpretation.

Great picture Karen! Nothing like a well seasoned wooden rolling pin! The picture looks great when you click on it and make it big. But I have had problems photographing designs like stripes, gingham and plaids. Weird.

Anyway, my rolling pin that I use for everything that needs rolling (and some things that don't) belonged to my husband's great aunt Grace, after whom my Grace is named. She was 85 when she died and had used it all her life. It's the only item Tom wanted from the estate when it was all being divided up.

Stay warm!

Love it! Another form of "rolling" I hadn't thought of. My thinker isn't working this week.

Mary Grace, that's a great story. Its nice to have those little things that tie you to your famil's history.

As for staying warm, probably not. The kid needs to go to several different events today. If only she had her lisence, I wouldn't have to leave the house!

Great idea! I didn't think of this one -- probably a delayed reaction to the relief of making it through the "silly season."

I love this, it's great. I also thought of rolling pin; my husband's grandmother's. Although I seldom use it, I love the feel of it in my hands.
