Please Don't Say Tulip!

For our upcoming quilt show, the Material Girls Quilt Guild is working on a special project. We are making at least one quilt from each year of about 20 years or so of the Great American Quilt Book. This week I've been working on the one I said I would make. Need to have it done by the show, on June 28th and 29th.

I'm remembering why I stopped making large traditional quilts.
  1. My house is tiny, quilts are not and,
  2. I can't stand to do the same thing over and over again!
I have been cutting out hundreds of tulips this week. Now I'm trying to decide on sashing. The original has blocks and sashing of solid white. This style has come around again, with the Modern Quilt Guild Movement, but it's just not happening here. My block backgrounds are white with black lines. I got a pale blue fabric, intending to use it the wrong way around for sashings, to make it even lighter. Now I'm thinking I want to use the brighter, right side. Take a look. (Sorry for the bad pics, see item number 1 above.).

Here the options are together.

This is the brighter side.

And the lighter side.

Jensen thinks this is too much tulip, since he's not allowed to nibble. He's been napping at my feet as I cut out pieces all week.

So what do you think, lighter, or brighter?

Dear Great Bunny In The Moon

Please don't let that big bird grab me, or even fly over my house again. It bugs me, and makes Mom be loud.

Thanks so much,
Jensen

P.S. Send more banana, too, please.

So this is the story. Yesterday morning, Jensen was sitting in the front window, and I was petting him, and sprinkling my coffee with his fur. Just our usual morning ritual. Suddenly, Jensen's ears went into alert. Next he was sitting bolt upright. I looked out the window to see what was upsetting him. Flying above the house up at the corner was a hawk. It flew closer. It wasn't a hawk. Maybe it was a turkey vulture? But no, it didn't look quite right. Suddenly, it swooped down in front of our house. Jensen bolted, hiding under the coffee table. And I started yelling "That's an eagle!" over and over. The eagle took off heading east. I eventually calmed down, and got Jensen a treat.

That was the first Bald Eagle that I have ever seen in the wild. It was so amazing. And so were Jensen's instincts. None of our other rabbits have ever paid any attention to birds, even hawks. I asked him where he got such good instincts, and he said "Mom, I was born this way!" Apparently on top of everything else, he's a Lady Gaga fan!

Testing, Testing

Wow! Two posts in one week. How did that happen?

Today it's because I am playing with the Bamboo tablet that I got for Christmas. Sometimes it takes me a while to get brave with something new. And I'm one of those people who cannot make a legible signature on those credit card signature things, so this is a big leap. Anyway, I was working on my eye-hand coordination when I came across this information.

Think we should tell Jade? Nah....Let it be a surprise.

(Not too bad for my first drawing with this thing, eh? )

Yeah, Still Here, Still Shoveling....

Hi, everyone. That is if there is anyone still out there. Having a tough time getting through this winter. Might not have made it if not for my Big Boy.

No, not my husband. This Big Boy.

Don't you like how he framed himself? Right now he's off somewhere, probably getting into trouble with Mickey and Speedy.

And I'm trying to get myself back in the mood for sewing, with this stack of fabrics. All these bright colors are getting transformed into a whole bunch of tulips.

Wish it would stop snowing, so we could see a few things sprouting around here. But for now, fabric tulips will have to do.

P.S. Thank you to everbun for their comments on my recent posts. You know who you are. Even though I have been bad about answering, I do appreciate knowing you are out there. I'm going to try to do better. Promise. If I don't, you can stuff a snowball down the back of my collar.

Don't Open The Curtains, Please!

Guess what I did yesterday? I made a closet jump all by myself, just like a grown-up bun! First time! I went to Speedy's Gotcha Day Party.

Man, can his Mom throw a party! Everyone was there, even the Foo' Gerbil. I made sure not to sit on Buttons, like Mom told me, but ummm.... I may have sat on Maddy. No, she wasn't very happy about it.

All the Royalty was there, the Princess, Sir Harrington, and Lady Hannah. Harrington and Hannah were working hard at having as much fun as shell is this weekend. That's all I'll say about that.

I brought some apple sticks with pinapple, strawberries, and bananas stuck on them, to put into the Carrotinis. Mom said to be sure and share. I shared with Speedy, Maddy, Amelia, Hannah, Tyler, Racer, and then I don't remember much more.

If you are wondering, I only had one false start on the way home. Some lady in Fitchburg got a bit of a surprise around 2 A.M. Anyway, I made it.

I hope everybunny else is feeling better than I am. Don't worry, I'll be OK, as long as Mom keeps the ice and willow coming.

Great party, Speedy! Can't wait for the next one!
Nose bonks,
Jensen
