List-It Tuesday, Or Have you Ever Had One Of Those Projects

that fights you every step of the way? This is one of those projects!

I'm going traditional here, which isn't my favorite thing to start with. And, everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. Today I couldn't bear to look at it any longer, so I went off to the coffee shop with my sketch book. I made a list of all the things that have bewitched this project, hoping to release my frustration. I added a reminder of the one overriding factor that keeps me working on it. If you can't read it, it's not the photo. My handwriting is atrocious.

Then I spent an hour drawing my fellow coffee drinkers, and came home feeling much better. And, I have a helper now.

Ginny is doing double-duty here, helping me with my project, and eating helping my daughter with her homework. She actually carried this piece of paper in from another room. She's a dedicated bunny!

For more fun lists, check out Aimee's blog with its collection of links!

And tell me, if you've had a project make you crazy, what has kept you moving on it? I'd love to know.

Oh, my! When I first tried quilting, I didn't know that there were different levels of difficulty for quilting patterns. Okay... DUH! How could I not tell that there might be a difference between a Mariners Star and a nine patch? I don't know. Just didn't cross my mind. Luckily, I chose a very simple pattern the first time. If I had chosen the *second* pattern I attempted, all quilting endeavors would have ended with the box it would still be in... In fact, pattern #2 stayed in a box for years until I finally slogged my way through 9 of the nasty blocks. Then I designed my own borders and finished it up for oldest kiddo. It really is very pretty. And, mostly, it is very DONE. (Of course, new to quilting, I also cut out the whole quilt before attempting the first block, so I had a box of tiny triangles to donate to my then-young kids...) Good luck on your monster blocks! Glad a cup of coffee helped. A good cup of coffee can cure most any woes, eh? :o)

I can hear it now: "I did the homework, but my bunny ate it." ;)

My crochet design, Milo's Bunny, has been giving me that kind of frustration. I finished one square and it looks lovely, but there's a couple of spots that are bugging me in execution, and I just don't have the time to figure it out with the holidays coming, so I've put the whole thing on hold until after Christmas.

Personally, I find that sometimes putting aside a project that's giving me fits and picking it up a later date when I can look at it fresh works wonders. Of course, there's always times when I don't have that luxury (like when I'm making gifts), so then I have to calm myself down and try to puzzle it out, but even then sometimes setting it aside and taking a few hours' break can help.

Hope you can find the solution to your quilting quandary very quickly. :)

Yep. Been there, done that. Not fun, but you will be glad when you get it finished and give it to your Dad. Then it will have been worth it.

And you have rabbits to help ease the frustration.

your rabbit is killing me. an authentic "the rabbit ate my homework" excuse! good luck with your project. although your list represents your frustrations, your dancing feet were really fun!

Oh man, I've heard these can take a while. I have no idea (no idea) how to create one, but I definitely appreciate them and the time/labor involved. I'm sure it'll all be worth it, and like your list says it's for your dad so there's good motivation.
I agree with Jade, as you did, sometimes the best thing is leave it alone for a day and come back to it.
Let us know how it turns out!

I don't know what the project is exactly, but your reason is a good one. Good luck!

Ps. Nice to know our rabbits are so cross-curricularly inclined, eh?

Ginny was thinking you should proof read it before your daughter took it to school.

I have too many of those projects to talk about. Oy! I think going to the coffee shop was the best idea. Nothing like a coffee shop to clear your mind. ;)
