I learned that it is not as easy to work in this style as Connie Rose makes it look. It's very hard not to end up with awkward negative spaces. It was fun, however, and now I get to enjoy my photos in a quilt, not just on a computer screen.
As a result of this exercise, I have come to admire her work even more. Check out her work here, and here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Karen, those quilts are awesome! I especially like the second one with the white flower. Is all that fabric pieced or do you cut out the shapes and applique them onto the background? Either way it looks like a fun process. I love the quilting you did on it too...a different design on each fabric. How big is the finished quilt?

Wow, these look fantastic, and I dod really like Connie Rose's italy quilts as well.
How did you transfer the photo onto the quilt? Is it one of those print onto special paper and then iron on? I have been thinking about doing some work with photos too but was unsure how to go about it.
